O’Connor Takes It Low

NGAWire® | 23May07

NGA Contributing Reporter, Kurt Goetzke – After suffering through a grueling round of golf at the difficult Greystone Golf Course on Saturday, May 19, first-year Team Greystone member, Tim O’Connor came out firing at the equally difficult Rattle Run Golf Course the following Tuesday.

After stringing together 5 straight birdies, Tim proudly carded a sizzling 67, an utterly amazing 27 strokes better than his round the previous Saturday. In a round that included two 3 putts, OIHM (O’Connor In His Mind) O’Connor stated, “it could have been lower!!!” He followed that comment with a resounding, “I AM BACK!!!”

This is great to hear, because many have been asking, “Where have you been, Tim?”

O’Connor, averaging a lackluster 86.4 (nearly 90 at Greystone), is still trying to find his way in the difficult world of Publinx Golf. He came to the team with excellent credentials, including a silky smooth putting stroke and a 500 lbs bench press. We all hope that this stellar round at Rattle Run was not a fluke. This reporter has to believe that it is not, considering Tim fired a similar round at Greystone earlier in the year (before the season started).

The NGA is intrigued by this fact and will continue to monitor his progress. At this point, there is no reason to question his round, and, in fact, Tim confidently has stated, “I paid off, I mean, I have witnesses.” Hopefully these rounds will translate to some competitive rounds in the near future.

Maybe Tim is just another member of the “garbage time” club of golfers on Team Greystone, or maybe he is not. Only time will tell.
