The famous Tunnel BBQ in Windsor, Ontario was in business for over 50 years. Their secret TBQ sauce is one I enjoyed growing up, however haven’t tasted it in over 10 years.
My father and I created a batch this past Thanksgiving and it immediately brought back memories.
This recipe pays homage to the great taste and flavor of the TBQ.
1 cup ketchup
1 cup prepared mustard
1 cup vinegar white
3 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 teaspoon chili powder
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
Mix all ingredients together in a blender (running at low speed).
Pour into a storage container and enjoy.
Over a day or two, the vinegar taste will subside as it reacts with the sugar.
Sadly, the Tunnel BBQ closed it doors this past September, but their memory will live on each time I taste the famous sauce.
